Article or letter for several readers
TCF Canada writing task 2
An article, blog post, letter or note for several readers, 120 to 150 words. You tell an experience and comment on it toward a goal: recommend, complain, thank or convince.
- Word limit
- 120–150
- Suggested time
- 20min
- Format
- An article, letter or note for several readers: tell an experience and comment on it.
What examiners check
- Narrate and describe
- Give and support an opinion
- Link ideas coherently
Method
- 1Give it a title and write for the readers named in the instructions (a blog, a newsletter, a forum).
- 2Paragraph 1 tells the experience: when, where, who, what happened, using the passé composé and the imparfait.
- 3Paragraph 2 gives your opinion with two or three linked reasons (d'abord, ensuite, enfin) and a call to the reader.
- 4Stay between 120 and 150 words: about 8 to 10 sentences.
Mistakes that cost a band
- Telling the story without any opinion, or giving an opinion without the story.
- Using only the passé composé: the imparfait for the setting shows a B2 range.
- Forgetting who reads the text: no title, no address to the readers.
